chambray and grey

I'm being serious today you guys. After my stance and commitment to working on a more simple, well-balanced wardrobe (see last post) I felt like I needed to show off some of my older items that I decided to keep and why. I feel like I really shouldn't have to explain a chambray dress, but whatevs. This particular dress is work appropriate and comfortable and I kept it for those reasons exactly even though I've literally had it for five years, that doesn't matter. I bought this cardigan last year and I find myself wearing it mostly in the spring as a light layering piece and it's perfect for a cold natured lady like myself in the office. Since these were both comfortable, practical, and I had already spent money on them both it was a no brainer to keep them. Also, these shoes, I mean I didn't think twice about these. I wear them all of the time, these are the kinds of items I want to continue to purchase for my closet, easy, neutral, versatile, simple, want to wear everyday kind of thing.

easy does it

I've gotten a ton of questions and have had a few conversations regarding the "capsule wardrobe," so I did my research. I must say, I thought it was completely ridiculous at first and then I realized how genius and simple the concept was, and we all know I love simple! The idea is to have fewer pieces in your closet, but all these pieces are quality, things you absolutely love, and can be worn with many other pieces in your wardrobe. HELLO, count me in. While I'm not sticking to a strict capsule wardrobe outline, I'm focusing on building a more simple, versatile closet. I just cleaned out my closet this weekend (felt great, by the way) and while there are still specialty items that I already owned and loved, moving forward my focus will be purchasing only things I can't live without and can wear together. Let's get this party started!

florals & stripes

I think florals and stripes has to be my favorite combination. Is it obvious? Florals and stripes always work, and are always right for any day. I'm going with a darker blonde these days too, and I'm loving it. I love my hair really blonde, but the maintenance was too much money and time for me. Ya feel me? Anything I can do to make things easier on myself, and I'll do it. Also you guys, there's 2 more full days left to vote for the REDBOOK Real Women Style Awards 2015, any votes help! I am overwhelmed and so thankful for all of your support!

warm weather recipe

My recipe for warm weather is one part bottoms, plus one part top that barely touches my body. Sometimes minus the bottoms. Warmer weather is finally here to stay, we're wearing shorts, bathing suites, and sandals like it's our day job around here. How amazing are these shoes? You can never go wrong with stripes, stripes on everything. These are the only flats I own, so I guess they're my favorite flats.

bringing 90's back

I'm totally digging the jacket tied around the waist trend that's coming back around. It's so 90's and anything that's 90's is my jammy jam jam. Trend or not, this is functionality at its best people. It's warm right now, but when the sun goes down I might feel a little chilly, but no need to stress, I've got my jacket ready and waiting. I remember when this was cool in elementary school and then in high school it was totally lame again. Now, I.do.not.care. I recently purchased a "running belt" as well, that's just a fancy way of saying fanny pack. Functionality is winning every single time you guys. There's no telling what's coming next.
