prep it up

Some days you just have to get all prepped up, that's what I did today. Whenever I dress more polished and neat, the more motivated I feel and the more productive I am. Really, just getting dressed at all will make you feel that way. How amazing is the texture of this sweater?! I debated for a long time what color I wanted and it's taking all my self control to not go back for others. I opted out of getting black, grey, or cream because that's what I always get and decided to venture out a little. I have nothing like this sweater in my closet and the forest green hue help make the decision a tad easier. The cute honeycomb pattern certainly doesn't hurt either. What Thanksgiving plans do you guys have?

mad about plaid

Now, this shirt is true menswear. I got it a few years ago at Forever21's men section and it's been my go to plaid ever since. So, you'll probably see me wearing this every other day. The lesson for today is never disregard the men's section, ladies, or any other shop really. If you're determined you can find something you like and that works with your personal style anywhere. Have you noticed that plaid seems to be a trend every year and I'm not really sure when it won't be and for that I am glad. Therefore, I'm advising you to go out and stock up on all the plaids you can! You will never, ever regret it. While your at it, pick up this vest too.

cold front

Ya'll it's cold, and it's only November, and for the south, this means we better start preparing for a "harsh" winter. Let me also remind you that a harsh winter for us is probably a mild winter for many of you. You'll probably see me wearing this beanie everyday to keep my head warm, it also doubles as a way to tame my hair. Now when the wind blows, it just blows my hair sideways into my face, but my hair still looks decent. And if I were being honest, which I'm always honest on this blog, I didn't wash my hair today either so the hat conceals any greasiness that may by lying underneath.

Do you guys remember a few posts ago when I told you that I joined a running group? Well, when joining (and paying) for this group, apparently I forgot that it's about to be cold out. Today is running group night and if you see a girl with her eyes frosted over, joints frozen up trying to run in town, and a bright blinking light on her, just ignore her. She'll find her way back home.

5 essentials of productivity

Life is sometimes hard to navigate, time hard to manage, and tasks difficult to prioritize. Although I'm not an expert, I've put together my "5 Essentials for Productivity," or at least these are the things that work for me.

1) Make a list- This is my number one piece of advice. I know, groundbreaking. But there are many people that don't make lists and if you don't, you'd be surprised how much it'll change your life. I even put things on my list like "paint nails." If I don't, I'll forget for sure. Making a list helps you to set goals and have a visual reminder to keep you on track. Plus, marking off items on your list feels crazy good. I usually make a list for each individual day or a big one for the week, depending on what I want to get done when.

2) Be comfy and confident- Be comfortable is first and foremost. Wherever you're working whether it's at your home, in an office, a coffee shop, you have got to feel confident and comfortable in your work space. A big thing for me, is wearing something I feel great in. I can't get work done if my pants are too tight or I'm feeling insecure about a low cut top. If I'm at home, I'm usually in gym clothes and if I'm out somewhere I make sure whatever I'm wearing is one of my faves. You do you, and when you feel like yourself where you are and with what you're wearing, you'll be getting work done with super high efficiency.

3) Get organized- Come on people, spend a day or a few hours and get your life together! This includes making a list, but this also includes organizing your finances, schedule, papers, closet, pantry-I mean, every single thing. It'll make your life flow easily and save you so much more time when you're in the middle of your day. For your finances, this means saving receipts, making folders, track your spending, if your an entrepreneur check out Kabbage, they are excellent at helping entrepreneurs achieve their goals and they provide small business loans. Another great idea would be to invest in a planner, I love these from Erin Condren and also target has really great planners every year!

4) Find a routine- Get a routine and stick to it! Find a schedule or a cycle that works for you. This is key for managing your time well. Obviously, each day will look different for the most part, but having at least key essential daily tasks mapped out such as a wake up and morning routine, will really help your complete day.

5) Remove distractions- Last but not least, get far away from distractions. For me, if I'm really trying to buckle down and get things accomplished, watching Netflix while doing it is never productive. So make sure you're in an environment that motivates and inspires you, whatever that may be.

Maybe this gave some of you a little boost to get things started and get things done. I hope so! With the holiday season and new year just around the corner, good time management and all of your essentials for productivity will certainly come in handy.

head start

So it's been a few days since I've posted and maybe you've been wondering where I've been. Maybe you haven't, but I'll tell you anyways. I've been busy turning 25 and denying it, working, jamming out to T-Swift's new 1989 album, getting my life together (if that's ever feasible), and getting a head start on Christmas, which I myself can't believe I'm actually doing. I mean, I've already ordered the cutest tree skirt in the world and got it in the mail today, started on Christmas shopping, bought wrapping paper and stocking stuff. Things are getting serious this holiday season. Last year we had a dinky tree and all of 7 ornaments and we were in the process of packing and moving, so redemption is mine this Christmas. Among all of the holiday chaos, I still love everything about the season.

sweater weather

I l-o-v-e sweaters. I can't say it enough. I honestly think this sweater would look better with jeans and some cute booties, but the skirt is what I chose for today. So the skirt is what you got. I love a piece of clothing that's easy and versatile, but also has something unique and unexpected about it and that's why I love this sweater. How cute is that little black yarn bow! It's been a great few days you guys, it's cold enough for sweaters, I got my hair and nails done, going out to eat with friends and family, and celebrating my birthday tomorrow. It really doesn't get more fun. I got this necklace from my in-law's in the mail early yesterday for my birthday! It's beyond this world, and I'll probably be wearing it every single day, so consider yourself warned.

leather wherever

In the spirit of Halloween last week, I wore lots of leather and black. My husband says I look like I belong on the back of a motorcycle and I'm really not sure whether that's a compliment or not...hmmm. I had been searching for a specific leather jacket that needed to meet an array of standards. It had to be black, not too cropped, no hardware, spikes, or embellishments, and I wanted it to have some sort of collar, but I also didn't want to spend a fortune. I know, those are super high standards. Behold, this Old Navy jacket was on sale a few weeks ago for $25 online! I'm that crazy girl that went to the store to try it on and then bought it cheaper online. Anything to save a buck. I can't wait to wear this jacket all fall and winter with just about everything! In case you were wondering, a leather jacket is another staple to have in a versatile closet. And with this  recent cold spell we've had, you'll be glad you got it.
