on a serious note

So, a little bit about life lately. As most of you probably know, we moved in January, I was jobless for awhile, we traveled, I got a job, we've made new friends and visited with longtime friends, celebrated an anniversary, and the list goes on. We all have our struggles, I think we've established this before on this blog. This isn't a place where we like to pretend we have it all together. Let me catch you up on my recent conflict and maybe some of you feel the same at this moment or have felt this before. Maybe some of you older and wiser folk can help a sista out!
Does there ever come a point in our lives when we feel like we've arrived, like we've finally made it? Or does the cycle just continue over and over. Now, I know that part of that feeling is the pressure and the pretty picture that's painted from society about what life is about and what the meaning of success truly is. I get that. But I have that constant feeling that I'm waiting to reach a certain point, not even knowing what that really looks like. Is this confusion, ambition, discontentment? Is anyone with me on this? Maybe I'm just nuts! This could be entirely possible, by the way.
In other news, I joined a running class, our cat got neutered, I got this top for $5, and I've discovered a great love for peppermint tea.

potato sack

My go to when the weather is cooler, besides jeans and a big sweater, because that should be errbody's (spelling correct) go to, is a dress that fits like a potato sack and some kind of boots, with tights for warmth. This type of dress may not be that flattering, and it definitely doesn't show my curves. Wait, what curves? That's beside the point, the point is, it's comfortable and I love it. I think I've said this before, but as long as it's not an actual potato sack and it's somewhat in style, wear it girl! I will always buy a piece of clothing if I a) I love the style b) it's comfortable c) I feel confident and myself in it. This dress does it all for me.

down to business

Apparently, black and brown is the only color combination I can come up with lately. Or maybe it's just that it's easy and I'm lazy. Eh, either way I like it and it always works. And also it seems I'm into skirts as well. I'm getting lazy with my wardrobe, I'll up my game, that's a promise.

Good news, I have already stepped up my kitchen game. I made apple brie and cheddar beer soup and it was awesome! I know the combination sounds really weird, but I took the leap and was super surprised at how savory it was. My apple pie turned out delicious, too! I'm a real modern day Betty Crocker. Betty Crocker still burns pots and can't cook rice though, right? Ok, good. Here's a little story for your Monday:

I drank a huge gulp of two week old milk while eating my tasty apple pie. Probably, the nastiest thing I've ever tasted. It's indescribable. Lucky for my husband, who poured this milk, I was the first one to drink. Not all of us can be that fortunate. Cheers to Monday!

black and brown

I think I've confessed my love for pairing black and brown together before. But seriously, it's the best. The mixing and matching never, ever ends. I remember in middle school being so stressed out because I didn't have black shoes to go with a black dress. My, how times have changed. I could show you some really embarrassing pictures of my outfits from high school, middle school, and sadly, even college! All of you would get a real good laugh. But we've all been there, right? What I love about style is that it's forever changing, and our personal style changes too. That's what makes it so much fun!  It's been rainy and chilly here the last few days and we're into the fall season full throttle!

rainy day finds

rainy day finds

1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8

I had an outfit ready to shoot today, but we woke up to the sound of it pouring out. And I don't think outfit pictures in the pouring rain would turn out very cute. So what better to do then spend a rainy day inside, baking, hanging in my pajamas, and online shopping! :) The best kind of day there is. I'm tackling baking an apple pie today (one of my monthly goals), wish me luck! What's your favorite thing to do on a cloudy day?

red hot

So bad news, I'm no longer strictly a housewife anymore. Boooooooooooo! Actually if I were being honest, it's fabulous to be working again, making money, and I now know I could never be a stay at home mom. I will miss being able to brunch though. By the way, I've now made the word brunch a verb, it's no longer a noun. We don't go to brunch anymore, we just simply brunch. I bet you didn't come here for an grammar lesson today. No worries, no extra charge for that. Who wants to diagram sentences with me? Any takers? Anyone. Hello?

So now that I'm not brunching as often and I'm working more, I've been on the lookout for easy, comfortable dresses that are office appropriate. Old Navy pulls through for me, again. Plus, it's red, I'll take any excuse to wear red. Red hot, our team is red hot. Our team is R-E-D H-O-T, and once we start we can't be stopped. Red hot.

fall

If you don't know this about me already, let me share with you one of my qualities. To be honest, I'm not sure if it's a positive or negative quality, it really just depends on how you look at it. You tell me.

When I get into something, I really get into it. You see what I'm saying? Like I'm really into fall right now, chili, apples, pumpkins, costumes. (I'm obsessing over my Halloween costume) You name it, I'm into it. Oh, and I'm really into this vest still. I almost didn't wear it today, but the outfit didn't feel complete for me without it. Therefore, well, I wore it. If you like it, wear it, right? Right? Right? I'm right. So, what are you all about this time of year?
