boring black

There's so much I could say on the blog today. I can ramble on about how I love wearing black on black and the weather is so up and down, both of which are true. But there's one thing in particular that's been on my mind a lot lately. I have a blog, but I don't know if I'd call myself a "blogger," but whatever I am, as a writer of a blog I follow many other blogs too. It's so easy to get blog envy, it can really be detrimental. So many times I wish I had "this" or "that" and that my blog could be read by hundreds or that my outfits could be super styled and top notch. Then I have to remind myself why I started this in the first place. It's easy to compare and wish I could buy Celine bags, Louboutins, and shop freely with no budget at all and that maybe if I could, my blog would be more high fashion, with better posts. The reality of it is, is that I'm a normal girl, a normal wardrobe, a normal husband (this is debatable), a normal car, a halfway furnished house and a normal budget. But that's exactly why I started this. To remind myself, and the rest of the normal girls out there, to enjoy being normal. There's nothing wrong with buying on a budget, loving forever21, and saving up for something you really want. So, I'm learning that sometimes my posts aren't really about the showing you the outfit at all, but more about sharing with all of you a little part of my life. Don't ever compare yourself to a girl you see online, because who you are is exactly who you need to be.

on the prairie.

I fell in love with this top the moment I laid eyes on it. It's a bit little house on the prairie goes modern to me and it can pretty much be worn with just about anything in my opinion. And if you may remember, these are my trusty boots! I have a deep and serious love affair with these babies. They adapt to every situation, they're trustworthy, the perfect shade of brown, warm, and a perfect fit. I promise I really am talking about boots here, although those are A+ qualities for a man too, ladies (all the single ladies, put your hands up). This was the first day I could actually wear these boots and not look like I was trying too hard to pretend it was "fall" outside....it actually was fall outside this day. Oh, did I mention that Santa Clause left this handbag on my dresser while I was sleeping. I couldn't believe it and unfortunately my husband didn't believe it either. Good things come to those who go to Target alone.

little black dress

A rule of thumb for life: If you find a black dress that you love and fits you well NEVER pass it up. If it's basic it'll never go out of style and you can get SO much use out of it. I purchased another LBD yesterday and maybe I'm just trying to justify right now, but it's working. That's all for today. I'm back to watching What Not to Wear and spending time with my family. Happy Weekend!

I think long and hard when getting dressed every day. This morning I knew I was going to the grocery store after work, which is easily my most hated thing to do. Someone once told us that you know when couples are newlywed because they still go to the grocery store together. Part of that may be true, but part of me doesn't. If I go to the grocery store by myself my husband is calling me two hours later, in a panic, wondering if I'm doing okay. One time I looked for tortellini for 30 minutes-30 minutes! I even google, "Where to find tortellini in the grocery store?" I never found it and came home a hot, stressed mess-not even hot, just a mess. Even though we end of fighting about what kind of milk or peanut butter to get, double teaming the grocery store and loving my outfit always make the dreaded task more bearable. And if you were wondering- we buy our own separate milks.

more change

The weekend is almost here! Who else wants to say a few words to the guy who decided the weekend is only two days long?? I mean why not include Friday too, just makes more sense. So there have been a few small changes in our lives recently and all for the better I might add. One thing we decided to change is how we eat. We started a new nutrition plan in order to change our lifestyle and our eating habits. It sometimes feels like the hardest thing we've ever done and after week 1 out of the way, I'd say we're doing pretty good. I will say we're still in the "cleansing" phase, which isn't really all that fun. Don't misunderstand me, I'm literally craving blooming onions on the daily and I had some macaroni and cheese today, but I'm doing okay. Now if I can just find time and motivation to workout, I'll be doing really okay! All that to say, wish us luck. Have I motivated you to make a change yet? ;)

I use to measure success by the silly things like winning awards, being first, or always being the best. While all that stuff is great and commendable, success is more than that and I'm learning that lesson a whole lot more lately. We've been married 6 months=success, we made the commitment to start eating better=success, I made it in bed before midnight=always a success, I ran a mile without stopping (yes 1 mile, running is not my thing)=success, waking up every morning=success. These may seem trivial and small, but these are things we look over everyday and need to be reminded about. Success doesn't always mean that you make millions of dollars, moved up fast at your job, or that your famous. It's easy to forget that success is being a stay at home mom and doing it well, loving your spouse well, smiling at someone, or finding that true best friend. These are things that many people don't have and may never reach. Guys, I'm so motivational these days, what's gotten into me. Success today for the blog means not posting the same outfit twice, which I'm really not sure about this one. Where have you succeeded?

new season

If you can't tell, I got brave. Change isn't always a bad thing. Is it scary? Yes. I literally was in the salon chair getting all hot and nervous, but still saying let's do this! Now that I'm brown, I'm wondering if I'll get taken more seriously, wishful thinking. Honestly, I thought I'd leave the salon that day regretting every single thing that just happen, and considering this has happen to me multiple times in the past I was almost expecting to be disappointed. Surprise, I love it! I may not be blonde again, but who knows. I'm obviously ready for a new season, new hair, and always for new clothes. What have you been thinking about changing lately in your life?
