plaid hearts

So, I'm going to be serious today. So many times in life we get busy, stressed, or preoccupied that we forget to stop and smell the roses, maybe literally at times. Today I felt thankful. I felt thankful for the small things and tried to take notice of the details. I'm thankful for health, for friends, for sunshine, for a job, for cold weather, for a great family, and for the ability to love and be compassionate towards strangers. I felt warm and thankful in this outfit all day, must be the hearts! What are you guys thankful for?

So you've seen all of this before. I really wanted to find different ways to wear clothes that I have. You can get SO much more out of your wardrobe if you brainstorm different ways to wear it, it's true! Today was a bittersweet Monday. I spent a weekend full of friends and relaxation, then Monday came and I have laryngitis and a big case of the "weddingitis", kinda like senioritis. Let's do this thing Tuesday.

black attack

While cooking dinner at my fiance's house a few nights ago this is what he says, "I don't think I could eat breakfast for dinner every week." What he means is, "I know this is all you know how to cook, but please stop making me eat it." See, here's the deal. I LOVE breakfast foods, but for dinner. i have a theory that's only because that's the only time I have time to make it. I mean, do people really get up and make breakfast everyday? Props to all you out there! My point was proven today when I woke up 15 minutes before I had to leave. Sorry, no homemade pancakes or french toast today.... or anyday. So stands my theory as to why I always have breakfast food at night and why I wore all black today, because it's easy and takes no thought, unlike cooking. What's the secret to having breakfast in the morning?? How do all you super wives do it?? I need to know or my future children are going to eat fried bacon and scrambled eggs with cheese every night of their lives!

stripes and florals

So I got a few comments from strangers on this skirt today. Some good, most not; however, I knew I was taking a risk when getting this skirt! I didn't love it when I first saw it and then I put it on and it was magic! I've been in to taking risks lately...getting married, cooking..these are serious risks y'all. Then I took it a step further and put stripes with florals...more magic! I hope you all had a magical monday!

great outdoors

Brace yourselves for what I'm about to say, you'll never hear it again. SO, I was feeling woodsy today. This never happens. I wanted to feel like I live in a tree house, five hours from any civilization and like all I do all day is hike and fish for my dinner. I mean this is rare folks. Don't get me wrong, I love the occassional hike and I love to be outside on a beautiful day, but for me to fish or sleep outside on a cold night never, ever happens. So today I'm my version of woodsy and tomorrow who knows what i'll be!

back to the basics

Getting back to the basics is really what life is all about. I mean, think about it, when life gets complicated and confusing is when it gets scary. Sometimes all it takes are the little things that we sometimes overlook in life. If we all focused on the basic things in life, like loving others and laughing, can you imagine what kind of world we would live in.... Ok, that was my inspiration for you today. I promise I won't ever compare my clothes to life again. Nope, actually I don't promise that.

So here I am in black and white, and boots and jeans. Not that exciting, eh? Sometimes an outfit can look so complete and put together by just keeping it simple! That's what I did today, no reason to make it complicated! Also, I don't know if you can tell, but I have some fancy new blush on that came from my first ever Birchbox! I'm already in love with this thing. I highly recommend subscribing! It's like getting a Christmas present in the mail once a month! Who wouldn't want that?

utility dreams

I was flying this weekend to a work conference, and in the past while flying I've literally worn sweat pants and t-shirts and ya know, looked pretty nasty. Well, I decided this time was going to be different! I mean, why not look cute while flying! You risk the chance of seeing movie stars, famous actors, and well known singers while traveling...and I don't want to be in my sweats if that were to happen! Plus, I could look the other passengers in the eye and not feel like they were thinking, "Where's THAT girl going!" So, this is what I wore and I happened to LOVE it. I had been looking for a utility jacket for a LONG time...and I walked into Old Navy last weekend and a bright, heavenly light with an arrow pointing down that said, "JUST IN!" was shining down on this baby! I didn't even hesitate to buy it...but I hesitate every time I want to take it off...it's just that good! I could (and do) wear it everyday!!!
